27 March 2019: The 5th ATU-Net Board Meeting was held on 27 March 2019 at LPU Room, Level 17, Menara Razak, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur from 11 am until 1 pm. The board meeting was chaired by UTM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid bin Omar. In the meeting, the chairmain welcomed UMT to the alliance and also all ATU-Net members. The board meeting has been started with the discussion on student mobility programme that has been coordinated by UTM as ATU-Net Secretariat.

For student activities, all member institutions were welcomed to join the Summer School Program. There will be no charge for Summer School Program who is under ATU-Net member institutions. At the board meeting, the Internet of Things Innovation Camp (IOTI) has been proposed to be held for two weeks started from 24th June until 4th July 2019 by UTM. This program is for engaging and exciting way to learn electronic prototyping among students.

Furthermore, the “Bridge Competition” has been proposed from 22nd to 25th September 2019, hosted by UTM. “Bridge Competition” is a platform for future technocrat to change ideas and expand their expertise among them. Besides that, the selection of a winner for “Design A Logo Competition 2018 for Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net)” has been decided by the Secretariat based on a total of 27 submissions.

For staff activities, ATU-Net International Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Computing, Engineering and Science Education (invENT2019) is to be postponed this year. The “International Staff Week” was to be hosted by UTM and it has been proposed to be in September 2019. The objectives of this program are to help staff getting to know each other and establishing and sustaining partnerships among ATU-Net members.

The meeting was attended by member institution representatives from international and local universities, including Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSUIIT), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and Seoul National University of Sciences and Technology (SeoulTech).
